Hard work is over-praised, direction is underrated
Everyone talks about putting in the work. Nobody talks about whether the work is pointed anywhere.
Here's the thing about momentum: it doesn't come from effort alone. It comes from direction. You can push a rock up a hill with everything you've got - sweat, hours, grind, all of it - and it will never, ever snowball. Not because you didn't work hard enough. Because the direction was wrong from the start.
This is where a lot of athletes get stuck. They're training hard, showing up, doing the reps - and still feel like they're not actually getting anywhere. It's not a work ethic problem. It's a direction problem. And direction doesn't come only from a training plan. It comes from knowing your own values - what you actually care about, what you're really chasing, and why.
Once you know that, something shifts. The same hard work that used to feel like pushing a rock uphill starts rolling downhill instead. It compounds. It builds on itself. That's momentum - and it's available to all athletes who know where they're headed.
We built a free micro workshop - with Life Coach and D1 National Championship soccer Player Jessica Parker - to help you find that direction before you put in another rep: Know Your Values, Own Your Game.
Stop pushing the rock uphill. Find your direction, then let the work compound.
